My last post, featuring the awesome Ape Snacks, was back in April! I'm appalled with myself for not posting since but it does mean I have a LOT to share with you.
I left my job working for a big corporate and joined Faisal full-time at our Field Marketing start-up. We were lucky to secure multiple clients early on, so we lost all concept of time and starting working around the clock. YAY for the business! BOO for sleep. Want to know what a lack of relaxation can do to a person? Here I am walking out the front door in my slippers...
We took in a "stray" cat, who turned out to belong to our neighbour. He's a gorgeous boy called Sam, and is incredibly friendly (*attention whore*). We now have shared ownership, but either our neighbour isn't holding up their end of the bargain or Sam is as greedy as he is needy. I know it's the latter... I've seen the inside of our neighbours house - cat food, cat toys, cat bed - yet we feed him multiple times a day and our back door is covered in scratches from his attempts to break into our house 24/7. Some felines just can't be pleased!
My wonderful Mum treated me and Faisal to watch the incredible Ed Sheeran on stage in our home county of Suffolk, along with Lewis Capaldi and a surprise entrance from Stormzy! It was hands down one of the best concerts I have been to (second to Eminem, of course). Thanks Mumma!
I did a LOT of celebrating last year...
We celebrated my Dad's big 6-0 with a massive party and a family holiday to Ireland. We rented a majestic house in the countryside, complete with a Love Island-style fire pit and old-fashioned aga. It was beautiful! We had plenty of days out, sightseeing and roaming beaches, and drunk copious amounts of wine.
I also visited my old performing arts group, STARZ, to take part in their 10 year anniversary show. It was amazing to be back on-stage with a fantastic group of performers and good to know I can still remember the moves to "Shake Your Tail Feather".
Myself and Faisal had a mini party-for-two as our company turned 1 in October. But this was overshadowed by Faisal's not-so-little sister turning 18! I made her a giant cupcake which tasted delicious, if I do say so myself, and we got to buy her first alcoholic drink. My bad influence ended the night on Sambuca shots but it turns out I'm the only one who likes them...
Lastly, me and Faisal shared our 3-year anniversary together! We followed tradition by finding the next top grill (Big Easy) and stuffing ourselves with lobster - so much food.
I would love to tell you all that 2019 ended on a massive high but unfortunately, my good karma came crashing down in October when my Grandpops passed away. I'm nowhere near ready to write about him just yet but know he was my idol and one of the greatest men to have ever graced this earth. Just one month later, I lost my gorgeous furball Moon, too. I take great comfort knowing that they're both together, reunited with my Nanny! Thinking of you all every day.
And that brings me to January 2020, where my New Year's resolution is to spend more time doing the things I love! I plan to write more and play more music - my poor Saxophone hasn't seen any action in quite some time. So if anyone knows of a good Concert or Wind Band in North London / Watford, let me know!
Until next time, S x
