PRESS - Cold-Pressed Juice and Smoothie

Brought to London by co-founders Georgie and Ed, PRESS is a nutritious food brand specialising in cold-pressed drinks.  Their motto is “Drink positive.  Think positive.”
PRESS use cold water, high pressure processing with the aim that their drinks retain the best flavours and nutritional values possible, while eliminating any harmful bacteria.

So, how do they taste?
ORCHARD 1
Orchard 1 is a nutritional, cold-pressed vegetable and fruit juice, containing strawberry, apple, lemon and mint.  The 250ml bottle holds 108 calories and 9.5g of naturally occurring sugars.

The juice has a delightful strawberry aroma with notes of mint, and is blood-orange in colour.  In taste, the juice is very sweet but has a little tartness from the lemon.  Due to the strawberries, it does contain quite a few tiny seeds.
IMMUNITY
Immunity is a cold-pressed vegetable and fruit smoothie, designed to be an immunity booster.

The front-of-pack listed ingredients are: banana, apple, lemon, ginger, turmeric and cayenne.  However, on inspection of the ingredients list, the smoothie also contains orange, avocado and black pepper.

The smoothie is a rich source of vitamin C and antioxidants.  There are 173 calories in the 250ml bottle and 11.2g of naturally occurring sugars – not bad for so much fruit!
Vivid yellow in colour, it smells strongly of ginger with subtleties of banana.  On first taste, you get the expected banana flavour with a very slight hint of apple, then a big punch of ginger and turmeric.  The cayenne and black pepper give the smoothie warmth.
As the smoothie has been pressed rather than blended, the texture is thinner than regular smoothies and contains almost zero pulp – just the teeniest strands of ginger and orange.
The juice and smoothie are both free from preservatives and have no added sugar.
Both drinks are refreshing and I’d certainly have them again, but they tend to have one very dominant flavour coming through with not much balance between the fruits.  It would be great to taste more banana in the smoothie, particularly.
If you fancy trying PRESS drinks out for yourself, you can pick them up in one of their juice bars across London:  SOHO | SELFRIDGES | ST PAUL’S.
A word from PRESS: “We love what we do at PRESS and hope our recipes bring a moment of positivity and balance to your day.” – Thanks guys!
